About the Concert:
An evening of quartets performed by members of Orchestra Lagrandt (Lucia Warren, Simone Alder Gendron, John Moffatt, Thomas Larichelière-Banken) sponsored by the McGill Alumni Association of the Netherlands. Works by Sweelinck, Verhulst, Leonard Cohen, Joni Mitchell, and a premiere by Ian Arthur Plansker will be shown alongside projections of artwork by Rembrandt, Van Gogh, The Group of Seven and more. Commentaries will be given by violist John Moffatt.
About the Artist:
A longtime member of the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, John Moffatt also performed and toured extensively with the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna State Opera Orchestra. Furthermore, he has appeared with many other ensembles including the Vienna Symphony, the Austrian Radio Orchestra, the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra, the Colorado Festival Orchestra and the Malta Philharmonic. He taught violin and viola as a member of the faculty of Algoma University College in Canada and was a founding member of the Canadian String Quartet. Symphony, chamber orchestra and string quartet tours have taken him to over 100 countries around the world.
