Orchestra Lagrandt is one of the few orchestras in Europe pushing the boundaries of historical performance practice (HP) from the Classical era to the early twentieth century. Founded in Amsterdam by conductor Ian Arthur Plansker and a group of young, professional musicians from over 30 nations, the ensemble answers the need for a setting in which HP may explore later and larger symphonic repertoire. Through this bold programming, Lagrandt gives voice to a new generation of musicians, reviving the spirit of Romantic individuality.

Since forming in November of 2024, Orchestra Lagrandt has given their debut performance with Schubert’s “Great” Symphony in March 2025 and in November 2025, gave the first HP performance of Tchaikovsky’s Third Symphony. In spring 2026 season, concerts included a Romantic-style arrangement of J. S. Bach’s Johannes Passion and a program of repertoire from the years leading up to World War II entitled "The World of Yesterday."
