Orchestra Lagrandt is the first orchestra in the Netherlands pushing the boundaries of historical performance practice (HP) from the Classical era to the early 20th-century. Founded by conductor Ian Arthur Plansker and a group of young professionals from over 25 nations, the ensemble answers the need for a setting in which HP may explore later and larger symphonic repertoire. Many of the greatest masterpieces have yet to be performed on historical instruments, providing endless inspiration for Lagrandt’s bold yet classic programming.

Since forming in November of 2024, Orchestra Lagrandt has given their debut performance with Schubert’s “Great” Symphony in March 2025 and in November 2025, gave the first HP performance of Tchaikovsky’s Third Symphony. In the upcoming spring 2026 season, their programming includes a Romantic-style arrangement of J. S. Bach’s Johannes Passion and a program of repertoire from the years leading up to World War II.
